About: Buddies was a group project for my Intro to Computational Media class, and was the final project for the class. Our 3-man group was given four weeks to complete an Atari 2600 game. We settled on creating a two-player co-op platformer. Each player controls a “buddy” to solve puzzles and progress to a new level.
What makes Buddies unique is how the two buddies are quite different from each other. The “Big Buddy” character is larger than the other and can push/pull blocks around, but cannot jump. The “Little Buddy” character can jump around and shoot a gun, but cannot walk or push/pull blocks.
This was my first time working with a group on a game and I learned a lot about group dynamics regarding creative works. I also had the sole responsibility of writing up the design document for the game, which was my first time creating an official design document for a game.
